Based out of Oakland, CA, I am a careered colorist, graphics dabbler, emerging color designer, gotta-be-me collage artist, and a long-time-itching, developing voice artist looking to play. I feel the most purposeful as a person, woman, mother, partner and friend when I’m engaged creatively and am pouring my authentic self into what I do. I’ve got a lot to work with, and so do you. We get each other like that.

Just like you but me began in 2016 as a blog — remember back when we thought blogs were the creative outlet for the budding, insecure artist? I posted color inspo pieces, sketch journal entries and shared thoughts on creative process from a humble but enthusiastic place. Visual elements flowed easier, and eventually I nixed the blog for just posting on Instagram. There, artistic community was quick and accessible, and work was being shared among budding, insecure artists, just like me. We support each other, keeping with the conversation of process, growth and discovery, on top of admiring each other’s strengths and spreading inspiration. Simply relating to other creatives is powerful, and helps me identify, develop and focus on my unique creativity, being true to myself to find joy in my own work and what I can offer for yours.

The name “Just like you but me” is the idea that finding creative identity has to do with the precarious relationship of comparison — maintaining perspective on the road to self discovery when there is so much talent out there. Everyone has something valuable in the works, but what makes it an act of self-expression is that it’s authentic and, well, you. And oftentimes, it takes one to know one so more fun can get done (and it feels more like a thing when stuff rhymes, don’t you think?).
